Why We Don’t Offer Gift Cards for Reviews (And What We Do Instead)
When we first started collecting reviews on G2, we took the well-trodden path: offer a $10 gift card for every review.
It worked.
Kind of.
We got a wave of reviews, but it didn’t feel right. At HeyTaco, we’re not in the business of transactions—we’re in the business of connection. Recognition should feel authentic. Earned. Human. But this felt like we were paying people to say nice things. And while there’s nothing wrong with that approach for some businesses, it just didn’t vibe with our values.
So we switched it up.
Instead of rewarding reviewers directly, we decided to pass the gratitude forward. Every quarter, we run a review drive where we donate $10 to a nonprofit for every G2 review we receive. No strings attached. Just tacos turned into impact.
This quarter’s partner: Aspiritech 💛🌮
Aspiritech has been part of the taco economy for years, and we’re huge fans. They’re a nonprofit social enterprise that provides meaningful employment for autistic adults, offering careers in quality assurance, tech support, and data services. Their mission is to unlock potential through purposeful work—and we couldn’t be more inspired.
So here’s the deal:
Leave us a review on G2 by May 27, and we’ll donate $10 to Aspiritech in your honor.
Your review helps us grow.
Your review helps us give back.
Your review helps us keep gratitude at the center of everything we do.
Thanks for being part of the taco-powered movement. 💪🌮
